Die VCSV se Belydenisgrondslag
- Ons glo in die drie-enige God (Vader, Seun en Heilige Gees) wat almagtig is en ewig bestaan.
- Ons glo in die soewereiniteit van God wat die mensdom na sy eie beeld geskape het.
- Ons glo in Jesus Christus, die Verlosser, die Seun van God en dat Hy die Here is van elke faset van die samelewing en mense se persoonlike lewens. Deur sy dood en opstanding ontvang ons vergifnis van ons sonde en word ons versoen met God en ons naaste.
- Ons glo in die Heilige Gees wat mense beweeg tot sondebelydenis, hulle heilig maak deur sy inwonende krag en deur hulle die samelewing vernuwe.
- Ons glo dat die Bybel die geïnspireerde Woord van God is, waardeur Hy Homself en sy wil aan ons openbaar en die finale gesag is. Ons aanvaar die Bybel as die bron van die waardes en norme waarop ons lewens en die samelewing gebou moet word. Die boodskap van die Bybel is tot die hele mensdom gerig en daardeur spreek die Heilige Gees tot mense van elke kultuur sodat hulle die waarhede daarin kan begryp.
- Ons glo aan die Heilige Algemene Kerk wat saamgestel is uit mense wat Jesus Christus opreg bely as Verlosser en Here. Hy bind ons saam as lede van sy liggaam tot ’n eenheid wat reik oor alle grense van ras, geslag, taal en kultuur en stuur ons uit om die evangelie tot aan die eindes van die aarde te gaan verkondig.
- Ons glo dat God ons roep tot volkome gehoorsaamheid aan Hom in elke faset van ons lewe.
- Ons glo dat Jesus Christus weer kom om die lewende en die dode te oordeel en vir ewig te heers as Koning.
UCSA Confession of faith
- We believe in the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) who is almighty and exists eternally.
- We believe in the sovereignty of God, who created humankind in his own image.
- We believe in Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, the Son of God, and his Lordship over every aspect of society and personal life. Through his death and resurrection we receive forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God and our neighbours.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit who moves people to repentance, sanctifies them by his indwelling power and through them brings about the renewal of society.
- We believe that the Bible, as the inspired Word of God, is our final authority. We accept his Word as the source of the values and norms of our lives and society. The message of the Bible is addressed to all people and through it the Holy Spirit speaks to people in every culture to perceive its truth.
- We believe in the Holy Universal Church which consists of those who confess Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. He binds us together as members of his body, in a unity which transcends every barrier of race, sex, language and culture, and sends us to proclaim the gospel unto the ends of the earth.
- We believe that God calls us to obey Him above all in every aspect of life.
- We believe that Jesus Christ will return to judge the living and the dead and reign forever as King.
